Welcome to Mrs. Chumbley’s Counseling Page
Hello, my name is Carin Chumbley. It is truly a joy to be part of the Eddins Elementary community. Our students, families, and staff make this such a special place, and I am grateful to be here each day.
My husband and I moved to Texas in 2023 to be near our son and his growing family, and we are so thankful to now call this area home. I previously worked in the Plano school district, and before moving to Texas, I spent many years in Northern California working as an elementary school counselor. In total, I have had the privilege of serving as a school counselor for 20 years.
I come from a family of educators. My mom was an elementary school teacher (and even my kindergarten teacher!), and my dad was a high school principal. Their example inspired my passion for working with children and supporting their growth. I earned both my bachelor’s degree in psychology and my master’s degree in counseling, with a specialty in school counseling, from California State University, Sacramento.
I am passionate about empowering students as they grow in their social-emotional skills, learning to understand their feelings, develop healthy coping strategies, resolve conflicts, build strong character, and become leaders who care for others.
I also have a heart for supporting families. I have been teaching Love and Logic parenting courses for 15 years and have loved sharing these ideas through our Counselor Chats. I look forward to continuing this work and connecting with more families.
I feel so fortunate to be part of the Eddins Elementary community. If we haven’t met yet, I hope to connect with you soon! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at cchumbley@mckinneyisd.net
