My goal is to help all students experience success socially, emotionally, and academically. I work with students individually, in small groups, and through classroom guidance lessons to support their growth.
As part of the Texas Comprehensive School Counseling Program, I provide a well-rounded, developmentally appropriate counseling program that supports the needs of all students.
My approach to counseling is primarily solution-focused and grounded in CBT. I help students identify their strengths and focus on small, achievable steps toward their goals, while also teaching them how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. I guide students in recognizing unhelpful thinking patters and replacing them with more positive, realistic thoughts. I've found this helps students feel capable and gives them tools they can use right away in the classroom and with their peers.
School counseling is designed to equip students with healthy coping skills for self-regulation, strengthen friendship and social skills, and develop positive problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Let's Talk
Students can request a visit with Mrs. Chumbley by completing a "Let's Talk" form and leaving it in the envelope on the counseling office door.
Students learn about this at the beginning of the school year and are reminded often during guidance lessons.
