Short Story Boards

Students in small groups read a graphic short story, "Ordeal By Cheque," and use the characters and events to chart their own version of the story using key literary tools: dialogue, setting, and characterization.

Visual Poetry

Students read Margaret Atwood's poem, "Half-Hanged Mary," and turn one timeline into a visual interpretation of the narrator's struggle.

Group Teaching

Students in an AP Literature & Composition class were tasked with teaching their section of the Ellison novel, Invisible Man, creating supplementary materials, historical references, and assessing their peers' understanding.

Classroom Environment

Student engagement begins at the door. As students move from class to class, they must constantly enter into new environments, and creating a positive and welcoming place to learn can be a challenge. Whether the classroom is in a building, or an online Google Meet, students should feel that they are safe and respected in their learning space.

Working with students, parents, and administration to connect and support my students' success is an integral part of my teaching practice.
