A Reflection Station is an area in the classroom or home that has items in it to help children regulate their emotions, such as:
Pillows
Blankets
Stuffed Animals
Fidgets
A Reflection Station is where students can regulate themselves down after a meltdown, or when they become dysregulated. Typically a Reflection Station is used for about ~3-5 minutes or until children can rejoin the activity.
Reflection Stations are never used for punishment or consequences. Children can be offered the area as a place to go and bring themselves back into mindfulness and be aware of how they are feeling, how they got that way and what they can do in the future.
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success.
