PRE-KINDERGARTEN NOTES


** Please note that many of these procedures have been changed due to COVID 19 restrictions

**You will be provided with an updated version at our "Back to School Night" on 9/9/21


ARRIVAL is between 7 :45 and 7:55. Punctuality is important. The school doors are locked at 8:00 am. Please park behind the orange cones and walk your child to the Pre-Kindergarten entrance, which is located behind the gym in the small parking lot. In the beginning, there will be a Pre-K sign to direct you. The Pre-K assistants will be there to help your child to the class. After the first week of school, no parents may enter the school building in order to protect the safety of all children. All children should be in their seats and unpacked by 8:00.

DISMISSAL – Dismissal is at 2:30 pm. On half days, dismissal is at 12:00 pm. Again, please park in back of the orange cones and walk up to the Pre-Kindergarten door to pick up your child. Please be prompt in picking up to avoid upsetting your child. Let me know who will be picking up your child each day. If someone different will be picking up your child on a particular day, please send in a note to let me know. In case of an emergency, please call the school and ask them to inform me as to who will be picking up your child. I will not release the child to anyone except the designated person.

ABSENCES – Please call the absent line 215-333-3142 ext 301 before 8:00am to report your child’s absence. An excuse note is required on the school day immediately following an absence. The note should state the date and reason for the absence. A parent’s signature is required. There are absence notes included in this folder for you to use throughout the year.

DRESS CODE – The official Saint Matthew gym uniform is to be worn each day which includes red shorts, yellow gym shirt, or navy sweatshirt and sweatpants in cooler weather, and velcro sneakers. Please send in a pair of underwear in a plastic ziplock bag with your child’s name on it, in case of an emergency. I have extra gym clothing in the closet for emergencies.

LUNCH- Please place your child’s lunch in a lunch box with their name on the front of it. Please include a small towel and 2 napkins in their lunch. Your child will also need 2 drinks. (1 for snack and 1 for lunch) Please provide healthy choices for lunch. If a utensil is needed for lunch, please pack it in your child’s lunchbox. Hugs, lunchables, and candy are not permitted for lunch.

SNACK – The children will have snack everyday somewhere between 9 and 10:00 am. Please include in your child’s lunchbox an appropriate morning snack (goldfish, cheese its, pretzels, crackers etc) and a juice box or small water.

FOLDERS –The folder you have received today will come home with your child everyday. This folder needs to be cleaned out daily and kept in your child’s schoolbag. Any pertinent information will be sent home in this folder, as well as your child’s school work. Please cover this folder in clear contact, so that it holds up throughout the whole school year.

ACTIVITY FEE – Please send in $25 cash by September 24th for special projects, arts and crafts, and special snacks that we will do/have throughout the year.

MONEY- Any money sent into school must be sent in an envelope with your child’s name on it and the amount of money. Please place the envelope and any other notes in your child’s folder.

NAP MATS – Please send in $29 (cash only) by September 17th if you would like to purchase a nap mat for your child. These mats are sturdy and have a blanket attached to them. It can be used again in kindergarten next year. If you have a mat from an older child, that can be used too. If you would like to purchase the nap mat on your own, Target and Walmart have school approved mats with blankets for anywhere between $18 -$30. ALL CHILDREN NEED A NAP MAT ASAP as full days begin on 9/15!

SUPPLIES NEEDED – Each month a few children will be asked to send in classroom supplies. A note will be sent home in your child’s folder when it is your turn to send in supplies. Please send in the following items when asked

-3 boxes of tissues

-1 roll of paper towels

-2 containers of baby wipes (Huggies or Pampers brands only )

-2 containers of Clorox wipes

-1 bottle of Lysol All Purpose Disinfectant Spray

Your child will also need a large school bag, lunch box, and a coloring book (that will be kept in school).

BIRTHDAYS – Parents may prepare special treats on birthdays. Treats may include munchkins, brownies, rice krispie treats, cookies, or small cupcakes. Please no cakes, candy, or candles. Summer birthdays can be celebrated at the end of the school year.

CONFERENCES – Pre-Kindergarten will hold individual parent/teacher conferences in December. Pre-kindergarten students will not have school that day.

BOOK CLUB – If you would like to order books for your child, a flyer will be sent home bi-monthly. You can order directly online using our class code (NFBJJ). You are never obligated to buy any books.


***PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PRINT YOUR CHILD’S NAME ON ALL BELONGINGS INCLUDING SWEATSHIRTS, COATS, HATS, LUNCHBOX, SCHOOLBAGS, ETC.


**IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER**



SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 13th-17th (first week of school)

SUNDAY, 9/12 – Meet and Greet at 12 noon. Please bring your child to meet his/her teacher and view the classroom before he/she starts school that week. Enter in the doors at top of parking lot by the 2nd grade classrooms. We encourage all families to make their best effort to attend to help ease any first day of school fears.

MONDAY 9/13– girls only (no lunch, snack only - 11:30 dismissal)

TUESDAY 9/14 - boys only (no lunch, snack only -11:30 dismissal)

WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAY 9/15-9/17 –all students 7:50 – 2:30 Lunch and snack needed
