Directed Study is not a time for students to socialize and relax for a period. It is specifically designed to give students a chance to get caught up on the day's work and ask questions to any of their teachers. Your student will be expected to use this time appropriately and not distract others from their work. If used properly, this will reduce the amount of work your student should bring home. Time management and organization is KEY!
Your student should expect to:
Bring all the materials needed for their classwork during this time including a silent reading book.
Plan on spending the entire period working on assignments.
Plan that the environment will be quiet for all to be able to work.
Cell phones are distractions and not allowed in the classroom.
Food and drink are not allowed in the classroom, unless otherwise stated by the teacher.
Students will not use their technology to play games or other tech items during Directed Study.
If your student is unable to adhere to these expectations, a parent meeting will be called in order to create a plan for your student during that time.
