About Mrs. B:
I am a graduate of Black Hills State University with a degree in Secondary Education in Composite Social Sciences and an Endorsement in Middle School English Language Arts
I have lived in Spearfish, SD for almost ten years and really love the community
I grew up in Boise, Idaho...it's more than taters!
I love to read, craft, spend time with my family, and enjoy the outdoors. I also really love to cook and bake, which is fortuitous that my last name is Baker!
I am very excited to teach your child this next year and look forward to a fun and positive year.
It is important for your student to find a piece that interests them and to read that every day, even 10 minutes, in order to increase proficiency and create a good habit. Your student will be asked to read numerous books throughout the year. Reading even 10 minutes a day is instrumental in developing good habits and fluency and understanding when reading.
Our classroom is like a bee hive. Everyone has an important role in making the community work productively and positively. I expect a positive attitude and respect in our hive. In my classroom, we focus on respect and kindness to all. Disrespect is not tolerated.
YEAR GOAL:
My goal for your student is to gain skill and confidence in their reading and writing ability. We will be doing daily writings, as well as larger assignments, including a research paper. We will also be reading several fiction and non-fiction selections from our textbook. I strive to provide different learning activities to engage the minds of the students.
