Transphobia is a dislike of or strong prejudice against transgender people. Their negative beliefs affect the way they, the government, organizations, the media, and society generally treat people whose identities don't fit into typical gender roles. Transphobia results in policies that take away the rights and safety of trans and nonbinary children, teens, and adults. This results in discrimination, harassment, and sometimes violence against people who are not cisgender.
