Mr. Miller's Science

Mr. Miller Science

On this website you will find most of our projects, notes, and facts related to our studies. Please bear in mind that it is a work in progress and will continue to be updated over time. The information on this site has been written by myself and has not been verified by any outside editor. Please feel free to make any suggestions as to the accuracy of this material. If you have any questions, please see me during or after class. Over the course of this school year we will cover a variety of science topics and subjects. This website is designed to assist in the teaching of my courses and help students prepare for a lifetime of learning, reasoning, and progress. Don't forget to look for our "Science Fact of the Week."

NOTE: This site is still under construction. More to come soon. Please visit us again!

Topics from Astronomy, Geology, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and more can be found here.

Space Science. The International Space Station, or ISS, is a multinational manned research space craft that orbits the Earth to research a variety of science topics that include weather, climate, physiology, biology, astronomy, and many others.

Geology is the study of our planet, and its dynamic nature. From volcanoes to canyons, this science includes all of our planet's features. Geologists also study the features on other planets, comets, asteroids, and moons.

Biology is the study of life. Marine biologists study the ocean, and research things such as how these pilot fish find protection from predators and a free meal from leftover food scraps from this Oceanic (Pelagic) White Tip Shark. Since the shark may not benefit from this relationship, we can consider it to be commensalism , where one organism benefits but not the other. It is a form of symbiosis. Biologists study all life forms known, and constantly search for new organisms. Most biologists specialize in certain niches containing one or only a few species.

Physicists study the universe and forces from very small, such as the make up of atoms, to how galaxies move and the universe formed. Physics can be defined as a study of the natural world.

Chemistry starts with atoms and how they can combine and what reactions that entails. Chemists create new materials and substances by rearranging atoms. They may be tasked with identifying unknown substances, such as you see on CSI or other crime shows on TV (although that stuff isn't actually real).
