I think it is very easy to separate what one would learn in English from their other classes, and even what skills they will use in their professional lives and careers. In reality, people read all the time constantly, albeit it may not always be classical or modern literature, but text nonetheless! Additionally, understanding the perspectives of different authors, and recognizing themes in reading provides opportunities to learn more about the world, and other people. It is with many hopes that this class can be lead by discussion on the perspectives of you students, and that we can all leave understanding the world we live in and the people around us just a little bit better!
