T: Chapter Test tomorrow - Integers. Situational Problem on Tuesday. We had a C4U today on BEDMAS and integers. Today we worked on application questions with Integers.

W: Worked on BEDMAS with integers (p.128-129) and summarized everything we've learned.

T: Today we learned how to calculate average (workbook p.80) and introduced BEDMAS with integers (p.128-129)

M: Refresh of operations with integers. Handout provided to students for practice.

February

24 - 27

F: PD Day. No classes.

T: Snow day. No school.

W: Integers quiz. Then, multiplying and dividing integers.

T: Finishing Monday's word problem assignment. Then extra practice. Quiz pushed until tomorrow.

M: Word problems and integers practice. Students had to check in after every 2 problems.

17 - 21

F: Activity day. No classes.

T: Some groups learned subtraction of integers. 703 had a presentation in the auditorium for Black History month.

W:

T: We took notes on how to add integers. p. 121-122 is assigned for homework, due Thursday. (Mr. L is out again tomorrow.)

M: Today we practiced what we know about integers. In our workbook we completed p.116, 120, and then a worksheet on ordering integers.

F: Today we took notes on definitions about integers and created a number line that we can use on our assessments.

T: Today we reviewed our midterm exams, both C1 and C2.

W: Today 705 were introduced to Integers. 703 and 709 began their Week 3 Balancing Finances project.

M: Today we finished up outstanding assessments (% test and Situational Problem). Student also had their Balancing Finances Project (Week 1 and 2) due today. If either assessment was not complete, Wednesday at lunch will be the last day to finish. If the Balancing Finances project was not submitted, students need to work to submitting it as soon as possible. This is the last week of Term 2. No extra time can be given to complete outstanding work.

F: Percent situational problem - all class.

T: Percent unit test - all class. (Mr. L out)

W: Practice situational problem.

T: (Mr. L is at the school board today.) Extra practice on word problems involving percent, discount, profit, and taxes in preparation for the test.

M: We updated our memory aid for fraction of a number, decimal of a number, profit, and a percent word problem. We had a C4U on word problems.

17: % Application questions practice. Workbook p. 107-111. For homework if not finished.

16: Work period on Balancing Finances project. Lesson on calculating profit.

15: Today we updated our memory aid for discounts and taxes. We then caught up on our Balancing Finances project. Tomorrow we will have a C4U.

14: Today we learned how to calculate a discount on a product or service.

13: We continued our work on Week 1 of our Balancing Finances project.

F: Balancing Finances Project begins. Students need a duotang. Week 1 due Wednesday, Jan. 15

T: We learned how to calculate sales taxes on products and services (GST, PST)

W: Today we reviewed converting between fraction-decimal-percent (wkbk p.104-105) and then learned how to find 'percent of' a number. Extra practice on p.106-107 strongly recommended.

06: Today we had a decimal quiz. Students began their decimal assignment. p.100-103 in the workbook.

05: We learned how to place decimals on a number line. workbook p.89-91 for practice.

04: Today we reviewed reading decimals, comparing decimals, ordering decimals, and changing them from decimals to fractions. Workbook pages 87-93 for extra practice, except number line questions.

03: We finished our sit prob and began our decimal unit, learning how to read decimals. Workbook p.87 completed and corrected in class.

T: Today we corrected p.68 and completed the "interesting numbers" activity on p. 85. To be completed at home. Due Monday Nov. 25

W: Today we learned how to organize and solve an order of operations question with fractions. Extra practice at home is recommended. (p. 68)

T: Today we had a fractions quiz and then practiced number sense questions in our workbook (p.80-84. For homework if not completed)

M: We're reviewing operations with fractions (+ - x /) so that we can get ready for Order of Operations with fractions. Workbook p.69 for practice. Quiz on operations with fractions tomorrow. (Not 709)

W: We had a C4U on exponents/BEDMAS then worked on a math assignment. Math assignment due Monday.

T: Self-checking order of operations activity. C4U tomorrow on exponents and order of operations. Workbook p.63-64 for extra practice.

M: Today we reviewed Order of Operations and wrote notes about how Mr. L expects each answer to be laid out

T: We continued word problems with algebra. A hand out was given. Students are to complete their choice of: all, even, or odd questions, for homework.

W: Today we learned about word problems with fractions (multiplication and division.) p. 57 & p.59 in the workbook.

T: Today we corrected p.56, then learned dividing fractions. p.58 for homework if not finished in class. We had time to correct in class.

M: Today we learned how to multiply fractions. p.56 for homework if not completed in class.

T: Some students finishing up their test from yesterday. Special halloween activity to prepare for tomorrow's C1

W: End of term C2 assesssment

T: Today a review package was handed out for the End of Term C2 assessment.

M: Today we reviewed last week's C4U and the fraction test in class. Students took both home to student for this week's assessments.

21 - 25

F: PD day - No school!

T: Mr. L is out at the school board today. Students had a C4U assessment on adding mixed numbers. Then they worked on their math assignment. Due Monday. (Handout of p.55 in the Workbook.) Don't forget to show your work!

W: Today we learned Method 1 (705) and Method 2 (703, 709) for subtracting mixed numbers. C4U tomorrow on ADDING mixed numbers only. No homework.

T: Today we had our C4U, then learned two methods to add mixed numbers. p.52 # 1 for homework. (705)

M: Today we learned about adding and subtracting fractions. p.50-51 #1-9 on each page for homework if not finished in class. C4U tomorrow on these concepts!

15-18

M: Holiday. No school.

T: Today Mr. L returned our quizzes and any other work not yet returned. We learned about factors, multiples, and equivalent fractions. Some groups had time to work on p. 45 in class. If not done, for homework.

W: Practice day for tomorrow's test. Students worked on the following pages for practice (not for homework, however, great for studying)

  • W: Parts/Whole C4Us handed back and reviewed. Reviewed comparing fractions and began fractions and number line. (705 only.) p.33 for homework if not finished in class.
  • T: Today we worked on fractions on a number line. Don't forget there is a quiz tomorrow (Definition of fractions, parts/whole, comparing fractions, ordering fractions, mixed numbers/improper fractions). Homework: finish page 35-36 from in class work. Will be checked Tuesday to allow for quiz studying!
