Moving Images are displayed by drawing one line at a time.

Resolution = number lines per frame X number pixels per line

Interlaced encoding:

Image displayed one half at a time. One half of image will contain odd number lines, the other half even number lines. Each half is displayed completly one after the other, effectively doubling the frame rate for the same amount of data.

Progressive encoding:

Full frame with all lines drawn at a time. As bandwidth becomes higher and higher progressive becomes more and more common.

Key facts:

< LESS THAN 50 frames per second and flicker is detected by the human eye

> MORE THAN 25 frames per second, although flicker is being detected, a continuous moving image can be achieved.
