Colour depth

1 bit could be used for black and white
4 bits simple greyscale
8 bits for minimum colour scheme

Resolution = Number pixels wide X Number pixels high

Number of bits = resolution X colourdepth

How to calculate file size:

1366 X 768 resolution
pixels = 1049088
pixels X colour depth = bits required (1049088 X 24 = 25,178,112 bits required)
bits required / 8 = bytes required (25178112 / 8 = 3,147,264)
bytes required / 1024 to get to next denomination (3147264 / 1024 = 3073.5 kib)
> 1024 ? yes then bring to next denomination
3073.5 / 1024 = 3mib
