Who am I?

Originally from Oakville, Ontario, I headed off to the East Coast after high school to attend Dalhousie University, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Not sure what my next step was, I spent a number of years working for a catering company in Halifax. While not glamorous work, it taught be a lot about the service industry and brought me into contact with a lot of great people. From there, I travelled to Thunder Bay, Ontario to get my Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University. It was while at Lakehead I first started to think about teaching abroad, because of a specific course and a chance to do a third practicum in China. I was part of a group of students who went to teach in the Maple Leaf schools, which are accredited through British Columbia.

After obtaining my Bachelor of Education, I charted off to China to work for three years at the Sino-Canadian Program for Nanchang, No. 2 High School. Working there with other Canadians, we delivered a Nova Scotia based curriculum to local students, who graduated with a degree from China and Canada. My time here was amazing, and I was able to teach Canadian History, English, and Law. It was during my last year in Nanchang that I began working on my Masters of Education through Acadia Universities distance program.

After three years I moved to Girona, Catalonia to pursue a long dream of living in Europe for a year. While in Girona, I continued to work on my Masters while also teaching at Kensington School, helping to prepare students for various levels of the Cambridge English Exams.

While not working or studying, I enjoy hiking, reading and cooking. I truly enjoy traveling the world and living in different cultures. I have found that after visiting over thirty countries so far, the more I travel the more I want to see.
