Having a structured class is crucial for student learning. Every morning I post a "daily agenda" so students know what to expect in class. This allows students to come into class prepared and it allows students who are absent to have access to what was covered in class.
The MOST important part of teaching is getting to know your students and building relationships. Once appropriate relationships are established with students, it will make planning and preparation much easier. You will know which students will need more challenges and enrichment, and what students need accommodations. All of my lesson plans include a section titled, "Accomodations." Having relationships with students and knowledge of them and their needs allows me to plan more efficiently and meet each and every one of them. The example provided to the left is an adapted map quiz from our World War 1 unit.
