Educating young minds provides an opportunity for a teacher to be a constant in a student’s life. My experiences as a coach, counselor, and religious educator demonstrate the amount of time and impact one can have in laying the foundation of the next generations. Professionals, like myself, are responsible for constructing curricula designed to engage and envelop students on their journey to reach their future goals. As a Social Studies teacher, I will strive to explain various complex social topics utilizing simple, relative activities and examples. Furthermore, I will enhance my curriculum by differentiating instruction for applicability to multiple intelligences as part of my mission that promises to eradicate complacency among all students. The wisdom that I will impart upon them will hold that each of us must seek greater global competence in order to preserve social activism and our unique history.
In order to bolster this continuity of growth, I will expect my classroom to actively learn, respect diversity, practice punctuality, and offer a comfortable platform for all students and any conversation. If I do not have extensive knowledge on a particular topic, I will invite students to join me in researching and resolving any questions that may arise. The sooner that students realize their responsibility for their generation, the faster they can meet their infinite goal of social responsibility. I will embrace school sports, organizations, events and families as a vital factor in order to achieve interconnections and even more engaging lessons.
