1. 7th Grade Open House
Completed: ✅
I organized and led in the 7th-grade open house, focusing on distributing mental health and well-being resources. The event provided an opportunity to engage with parents and students while polling the community on the school’s mission and vision. This interactive approach helped gather meaningful feedback and facilitated the distribution of crucial resources to families.
2. Behavior Norms Survey
Completed: ✅
To better understand staff perspectives on behavior management, I conducted a comprehensive survey, engaging over 20 staff members. The survey revealed a desire for a behavior management flowchart, adoption of high school behavior standards, hallway monitoring systems, and PBIS resources. This feedback informed my next steps for improving the overall behavior management structure within the school.
3. September Case Study with Jesse
Completed: ✅
I completed a case study involving a student who had wielded a weapon during a Zoom class. This case allowed me to explore the complexities of student behavior and the disciplinary actions outlined in the PA Law Handbook for Principals. It provided key insights into balancing student safety with behavioral intervention strategies.
4. Meeting with SAP and NHS to Create a Behavior Video
Completed: ✅
This month, I completed my SAP member training. I collaborated with the Student Assistance Program (SAP) and National Honor Society (NHS) to promote a mentoring program that will allow me to create a video of this collaboration. This video will aim to standardize behavioral expectations and offer guidance on responding to incidents in a consistent manner across staff members, further reinforcing school-wide behavior norms.
5. Community Contact List for Remote Students
Completed: ✅
I created a comprehensive contact list for students participating in remote learning through Mountie Academy. The list ensures that remote students remain engaged with the school community and receive appropriate communications regarding academic and extracurricular opportunities.
6. Google Survey on Student Employment Interests
Completed: ✅
To better align the school's offerings with students' career interests, I conducted a Google survey to gather data on student employment preferences. This data will assist in tailoring school programming and support services, particularly for those pursuing vocational paths or part-time work opportunities.
7. BCIT Curriculum Discussions
Completed: ✅
I engaged in discussions with relevant staff to align the Business, Computer, and Information Technology (BCIT) curriculum with student needs and interests. These discussions aimed to ensure that the curriculum is preparing students for both higher education and the workforce, addressing essential skills in technology and business.
8. Behavioral Flowchart and Referral Data
Completed: ✅
Based on feedback from the behavior norms survey, I gathered resources from the district primary schools to guide staff responses to incidents. We will address how we would like to move forward with this information on September 30th at the faculty meeting and in the subsequent month of school. The existing flowchart provides clear steps for handling behavioral issues and referrals. Additionally, I gathered referral data to identify trends in behavior and tailor interventions accordingly.
9. Mountie Academy Monthly Meeting
Completed: ✅
I organized a Mountie Academy (MA) monthly meeting with the leader of MA to discuss student progress, remote learning challenges, and strategies to keep remote students engaged. This meeting ensured that students enrolled in the virtual academy remained connected to the larger school community and received appropriate support services. In communication with this leader and the Vice Principal, I will seek to make regular communications with these students.
