This course will be structured using what is called "flipped instruction". That is, you, the student, will have your first introduction to concepts by taking notes over videos that I have made which cover the concepts, prior to coming to class. At this stage of your learning, it is NORMAL to have questions. I encourage you to ask them of me via email, text message, or during class time!
When you come to class, we will engage in a brief review discussion, likely including an application problem (or two). Then, you will spend most of the class time working on assignments (homework) and projects covering various topics. I will be available to help you, as you need! It is up to you how this turns out - the potential for great conversations about Mathematical concepts is great, but the potential for silence is also great.
The goal of all of this is: to DECREASE time spent lecturing, and INCREASE time spent working alongside you.
This requires you to have a great amount of self-regulation and self-motivation. I will post a calendar of the suggested timeline for you to follow.
Navigate to XYZ Homework to complete assignments. Assignment due dates will be posted to the calendar at the top of the page. For registration, see below.
Projects will be submitted via the Google Form below. Make sure that you are logged into your Jacksonville College account to submit.
