Circumference

Just like other shapes, the circle has a perimeter. We use a special term for the perimeter of a circle though, we call it the circumference.

Because the circle is not made up of straight lines it can be very hard to measure or draw when compared to other shapes like squares or triangles.

Luckily for us, the efforts of mathematicians from almost 4000 years ago gave us a relatively simple equation to calculate the circumference of a circle.
