Sometimes we see lines on or in a circle that aren't the diameter or the radius. While the diameter and radius are the most important lines in the circle for grade 7, we still should know what the other ones are called.
A chord is a straight line in the circle that has both of its endpoints on the circle's circumference. This means the diameter is actually a chord that passes through the circle's centre.
A secant is a straight line that passes through two points on the circle but does not end on the circle. You can think of it as a chord that "keeps going", but it's technically not a chord.
A tangent is a line that touches (intersects) a circle at just one point and makes a right angle with the radius at that point.
