The purpose of this portfolio is to provide evidence of my practice as a counselor. Additionally, resources, reflections, and other materials will be provided on this page. All SCPEs will have examples of the competencies along with a summary. The work is collected from my experience at University Pathways High School and Charles Drew Middle School.
A Memorandum of Understanding is an agreement on the responsibilities of the school, the counselor, the students, and the parents have to make sure the school runs smoothly and students are successful. Having clear expectations is critical in a productive relationship and workplace environment.

Students were invited to a National Guard Presentation faciliated by myself and Mr. Ramos, University Pathway's counselor. Students are provided ongoing career support by our team, in this case, preparing for the ASVAB.

Supporting students social-emotionally is imperiative. Even more important, is helping students understanding the varying experience their peers may have or are going through. Getting students to research, become more aware, and advocate for each other is one of the best ways to support the entire student body socially and emotionally.
Counselors are the facilators of a students' path through highschool and leading into college. Having an organized plan and communicating it clearly to students, families, and other staff members is expected of any counselor. While Mini Cumulatives are optional and vary in nature, they are considered De Facto.
In LAUSD, their is a noteable amount of foster youth within the student body. As a counselor, you may be the first line of defense and resource for these students. Advocating for them includes providing them the tools and resources needed to advocate for themselves.
First Generation Student Equity
Peer mentoring is a cornerstone of many successful counseling programs, leading to positive academic and social outcomes. Whether it is peer remediation, bridge programs, or college advising, mentorship goes a long way in building a strong foundation to a school's culture.
Attendance is a key data point that may indicate under the surface issues a student may be dealing with. Improving attendance rates is not important for school funding, but the sucess of each and every individual that makes up a school community. Attendance Matters!
