A. Circulation Section
Books in the Circulation Section may be borrowed for home use.
1. Period for loans
Regular semester : one week loan for graduate, undergraduate students and Faculty members.
Summer Session : 3 days for both graduate and undergraduate students.
Loans of any book are renewable for the same period if not needed by other students and borrowers.
2. Number of Loans
Undergraduate Students : Two books at a time or more in meritorious cases
Graduate Students and Faculty : Two books at a time or more depending on the need
HOW TO LEND A CIRCULATION BOOK
1. Get the call number of the book needed from the card catalog, using the author-title or subject approach.
2. Fill up a call slip. See to it that the information called for and the forms are properly filled out, author, title and call number of the book.
3. Go to the circulation section and locate the book or give the call slip to the librarian or library assistant for the location of book requested.
4. If the book is found, write your name on the Book card and give it to the librarian.
POINTS TO REMEMBER IN LENDING A BOOK
1. Take note of the number of books which a reader can borrow.
2. A reader cannot borrow if he/she still has an overdue book.
3. A reader may borrow a book for three days depending upon the demand for such book.
4. Three-day books are non-renewable, but may be re-borrowed if it is still available three days after return.
5. Take note of the date the book borrowed is due. A penalty of P10.00 per day is charged for overdue book.
HOW TO RETURN A CIRCULATION BOOK
1. A borrower presents the book to the librarian or library assistant at the desk counter and the librarian will give the library card to the borrower.
2. To renew, the borrower will return the book first, then asks for renewal and follow the same step on how to lend a book.
3. A lost book must be reported immediately to the librarian and accounts must be settled within (30) days from report of lost.
B. RESERVED BOOK
Books of great demand in the various courses are placed at the reserved section. They may be read in the reading room only on one hour loan subject to renewal if there is no demand for it by other students. Overnight loans are issued for books of more than one copy at 5:00 PM and to be returned not later than 9:00 AM the following day.
HOW TO LEND A RESERVE BOOK
1. Get the exact author and title of the book needed by the student, then look for the book needed.
2. If the book is available, the borrower writes his/her name on the book card then attach the library card.
3. A penalty of P10.00 per day is charged to borrower who fails to return overnight reserved books.
4. No room use reservation is allowed. Borrowers are treated in a first-come first-served basis.
5. The library card is non-transferable. Library card is confiscated if found/used by other students.
C. FILIPINIANA/ THESIS & DISSERTATIONS/ GENERAL REFERENCES /PERIODICAL SECTION
Materials Available are for room use only:
1. General Reference books such as encyclopedia, dictionary, bibliographical dictionary, indexes, etc.
2. Periodicals, current and back issues, are limited to room use only.
3. Filipiniana books and other materials which are limited to room use only or may be drawn out for home use depending on the type of materials.
4. Theses and dissertations submitted to the MPCI Library are limited to room use only.
The Journals/ Magazine Collection consist of learned journals of foreign and local publications. The Periodicals section also serves current magazines and newspaper for the day. These collections are strictly for room use only.
HOW TO LOCATE INFORMATION ON A SUBJECT
A. Through the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)
The first approach in locating materials on a specific subject is through the OPAC to search for materials without a librarian's assistance. It is designed to be searched by title, author, subject, or keyword in an interface that is more user-friendly than the previous card catalog.
B. Through Bibliographies
Supplementing the card catalog are bibliographies compiled by the library to facilitate research.
C. Through Indexes
Aside from books, the magazines and periodicals are important sources of a vast variety of information. To facilitate the location of information, indexes are available at the Periodicals Section.
D. Through the internet
Another source of information aside from the print materials is the internet which the library provided at the 2nd floor of the library managed by an IT personnel.
Objectives:
1. Introduce students to the fundamental concepts of what is available on the Internet and WWW, and how to access those resources.
2. Help students learn the importance of the internal technologies.
3. Acquaint students with the tools to access, research, and build resources on the Internet and WWW (e.g. graphical browser, HTML, home page software).
4. Familiarize students with search engines and how to make effective searches, including Boolean searches.
5. Acquaint students with various basic technical aspects of the Internet and WWW.
6. Describe to students the risks associated with data on the internet and WWW, including basic ideas about security and controls.

Internet Library Hours
The facilities shall be available for use from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday 8:00 to 12:00 during Saturdays

The Internet Library is CLOSED when there are problems encountered such as:
a. Connection-offline
* Destination host unreachable
* ping request time-out
b. Power Interruption
- Brown out
- Insufficient / poor power supply
c. Maintenance of computer and Network Facility
POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
1. The College Internet Library service is for research and educational purposes only.
2. The Internet Library facility shall be for the exclusive use of the college students and faculty members.
3. NO ID, NOT IN COMPLETE Uniform, NO ENTRY
4. Uses in a first come, first served basis. Each user may access the Internet workstation depending on the availability of the terminals at any time during library hours.
5. Users must have basic computer skills, including the ability to use the mouse. Basic Internet operations will be scheduled to give overview and introduce methods for accessing the internet during the library orientation.
6. No shouting or yelling inside the room. Always observe SILENCE/DISCIPLINE
7. NO SHARING OF USER ID’s or PASSWORD
8. NO BYSTANDERS INSIDE the Room. If there’s NO Vacancy, Please wait outside
9. Strictly Observe One Workstation is to one Student only
10. Internet work stations are for Internet use only. Strictly “NO playing of games”.
11. Downloading or installing of applications is prohibited
12. ACCESS TO ONLINE CHAT or the use of any chat software is prohibited
13. Encoding Text Documents is prohibited.
14. No littering inside. Chewing gum is prohibited.
15. Any site which contains malicious images of videos not intended for research purposes is prohibited.
16. Prohibited sites aside from pornographic sites
17. Violating of the policies and regulations that govern the use of the library’s Internet resources will result to suspension or loss of privilege to use the resources.
PUNISHMENT: SCHOOL ID WILL BE CONFISCATED and will be given to the Dean of Student Affairs for disciplinary action.
