Custom Parameters allow you to Add/Delete/Modify Parts and Operations for various types of products.
Custom Parameters should only be used AFTER it is determined the Library Parameters, Joint Templates, and Part Templates cannot achieve the objective.
Custom Parameters may also be imported and exported from one method to another. This also allows our Mozaik Technical Staff to write parameters and share them with our customers.
To Select a Custom Parameter to work on, click the drop down Custom Parameter menu. Each parameter already created will be displayed. Highlight the parameter of choice.
Select ADD to add a new Custom Parameter
Select Delete to delete the currently selected Custom Parameter
Select ReName to change the name of a Custom Parameter
Custom Parameters use the same Tab Wizard concept found throughout Mozaik. Once you have added a new Custom Parameter, simply fill out the information on each tab to complete the Parameter.
NOTE - Each TAB has a specific purpose!
Parameter Tab - to create and identify the type of parameter being written.
Product Tab - to identify the product for the modification.
Part Tab - to identify the part for modification & to create the modification to that part
Operation Tab - to identify the operation for modification & to create the modification.
Select Import to import a Custom Parameter. All parameters should be stored in the Product Library sub-directory.
Select Export to export a Custom Parameter.
Click the Disable Checkbox to discontinue using a Custom Parameter without having to delete it.
Macro No. is a field used internally by Mozaik development.
Each Custom Parameter is numbered in the database.
Parameter Type specifies the type of modification being made by each Custom Parameter. This will also determine what tabs and options will be displayed.
We recommend adding detailed descriptions for each parameter.
This tab is for selecting the Product to be modified,
NO modifications take place on this Tab.
ALL Modifications are made on the PART TAB and/or OPERATIONS TAB.
NOTE
Custom Parameter Product Tab
The Product Tab in the Custom Parameters is for specifying exactly which products this parameter is applied to.
Select the product type: Base | Wall | Tall
Sub-Type: Standard | 45 Corner | 90 Corner
You can also add special Product Requirements, like
Name: If you specify a product name like "Sink", Mozaik will only apply the Custom Parameter to products with the name "Sink".
Product Option: If you specify a product option, the Custom Parameter will only be applied when the option is added to a product at the Options Tab in the Product Editor.
Size - Use the size option ONLY if you want to control the modification based on a certain size product. For example, perhaps we want to add an extra toe support (sleeper) when the cabinet exceeds 30" in width.
End Configuration Options - this allows the Custom Parameter to be applied only for certain end types or combination of end types.
Adjacent Product Options: Special conditions based on whether cabinets or appliances exist on either side of the product being modified.
Custom Parameter Part Tab
The Part Tab will change based on the type of modification. A Note in the upper left corner will describe the type of change: Add, Modification, Delete.
When modifying a part the upper portion of the Part Tab is for identifying the part.
The lower portion of the screen is for making the modification.
When making modifications you can choose to
ADJUST the current setting
or
SET the value to something else.
This is a very important concept. For example, if you want to add 1/4" to the height of your base back you would select ADJUST & enter a value of 1/4" ... if you wanted to set the value of your base back to the full height of your base cabinet it would be much easier to select SET & enter the formula h.
Parameter Operation ID
Each operation added to a part in Mozaik has a unique Operation ID.
The BACK GROOVE for the Right Finish End Panel displayed here, for example, is ID #502. Since this is an operation added automatically by Mozaik, the back groove ID is 502 for Right Finished End on every system.
This is a very powerful concept. You can click on any part in the Part Editor, click on any operation at the Operation Tab, and identify the unique operation ID. This ID can then be used in the Custom Parameters to create modifications for this one operation only.
Note the Custom Parameter displayed here.
In this example, we are adjusting the width of back dado (OPERATION ID 502) by five thousandths.
This adjustment will only happen to the back dado on the Right Finished End because it is a UNIQUE Operation ID.
The Left Finished End, Right Unfinished End, Left Unfinished End, all have different Operation IDs.
Note the Wall Cabinet Right Finished End back dado ID is also 502.
This function should be used to modify a certain type of Operation. You can also select the Product type the modification applies to on the Product Tab.
