Select LIBRARIES | DRAWER BOXES
Choose from wide variety of drawer boxes and trays already designed and ready to use. Click the drop/down selector to view and modify your specification.
Click the Name selector to select your drawer box. Use ADD / DELETE to add or remove drawer boxes from your library. Use EDIT to change the name of a Drawer Box.
When ADDing new drawers and trays, start by entering the sample drawer depth on the right. The depth entered here should be the depth used in a standard 24” deep cabinet.
This entry sets up a relationship between the depth of the drawer and the depth of the cabinet. In this example, the drawer will always be 3" less than the cabinet depth.
NOTE - You can also add drawer box depth adjustments to the Drawer Guide in the Hardware Library.
Note - If you check USE STANDARD DEPTHS, the Standard Box Depth entry will disappear and a new Standard Clearance option will be displayed.
In Version 5 this entry box has been relocated in the Standard Depth Drawer Boxes dialog at the bottom of the screen.
Click in the image area (top left corner) to add an image to be displayed on the SETTINGS TAB. (This image is used as a selection thumbnail only.)
Click Export to export a drawer box method
Click Import to import a drawer box method.
Selecting the Rollout Tray Option changes the drawer (6 pieces) into a tray (5 pieces).
Selecting the Metal Drawer Option Removes the drawer sides and box front from the cutting list.
Selecting the CNC Dovertail Construction will allow you to setup the dovetail drawer settings. Click here for more details.
FRONT of drawer box.
Click Plant-On Bottom option and the front will be reduced in width by the thickness of the bottom and the amount of bottom recess. The bottom will be extended in length to the front of the drawer box.
Dado Side Depth - enter the amount you would like to dado (or rabbet) your front into the end. This amount will be added to the part twice.
Click on the Front Detail picture to launch the part in the shape editor and shape the part.
BACK of drawer box.
Click Plant-On Bottom option and the back will be reduced in width by the thickness of the bottom and the amount of bottom recess. The bottom will be extended in length to the back edge of the drawer box.
Dado Side Depth - enter the amount you would like to dado (or rabbet) your back into the end. This amount will be added to the part twice.
Click on the Back Detail picture to launch the part in the shape editor and shape the part.
Drawer Box SIDES.
Click Plant-On Bottom option and the sides will be reduced in width by the thickness of the bottom and the amount of bottom recess. The bottom will be extended in width to the full width of the drawer box.
Click on the Side Detail pictures to launch each side part in the shape editor and shape the part.
Drawer Box BOTTOM.
Recess - Distance from bottom of bottom to bottom of box.
Dado Depth - Amount the bottom is dado'd into each box member. Enter 0 for Plant On Bottoms.
Slop - Positive number decreases size of bottom and creates slop in the joint. This is per Dado, so the amount subtracted from the size of the drawer box bottom will be double the entry. For example, if you enter 2mm - the drawer box bottom will be 4mm less in width and length.
Dado Width Slop - Positive number increases width of dado for drawer bottom, negative number makes the dado tighter.
Width Grain - Check this box to run the grain along with width of the drawer. By default, Mozaik runs drawer box bottom width along the depth of the drawer.
Click on the Drawer Bottom ICON to launch the drawer bottom in the Part Editor to add part operations.
STANDARD HEIGHT DRAWER BOXES
If you use standard height drawer boxes, Check the Use Standard Heights and enter each height from narrow to wide separated by commas. If this is left unchecked, drawer parts will be listed based on the opening sizes and the tolerances entered into your Construction Settings and Hardware Settings.
STANDARD DEPTH DRAWER BOXES
check this option to use standard depth drawer boxes. Enter depths separated by commas. Mozaik will place the largest depth box that will fit the available space. For example, the depths specified in the sample are 17,19,21 ... Mozaik will place a 21" box in a 24" deep cabinet based on these entries.
Keep in mind, the standard box depth option changes to Standard Clearance when you check the Use Standard Depths option. If a cabinet is designed smaller than the smallest standard depth drawer specified, Mozaik will use the Standard Clearance option to calculate a custom size. For example, the depths specified in the sample are 17,19,21 ... if you designed a cabinet 15" deep, Mozaik would use the Standard Clearance setting to calculate a custom size.
Blind Dado Drawers
To create a blind dado drawer,
Click Plant-On Bottom for the Front
Click Plant-On Bottom for the Back
the Blind Dado Drawer Box option will appear at the bottom of the menu,
enter the Blind Notch Length and Qualified Tennon Thickness
Blind Notch Length is the distance from the side edge to the dado (top and bottom).
Qualified Tennon Thickness is amount remaining on your front and back after machining. (Also can be thought of as the distance from the front and/or back edge of the side to the dado).
This Blind dado drawer requires plant on bottom for the front and back to eliminate flipside operations while machining.
If you want a fully captive bottom and a blind dado drawer box, you will need to shape the fronts and back in the shape editor and add a dado to each end to qualify the tennon, the dados to the sides manually, and the add a Custom Parameter to increase the length of your sides.
NOTE - You cannot use the dado depth options for the fronts
and backs in this situation as it will add full size dados to the sides.
If you need assistance setting up a fully captive blind dado drawer, send a request to training@mozaiksoftware.com and one of our trainers will be happy to assist you.
