A Film at a Time
Join us in honouring the transformative power of eco-cinema in rural Kenya. Through the medium of film, art, and ideas, MountainFilm inspires audiences to create a better world, one film at a time.
Our program features curated screenings from the Mountainfilm catalogue, showcasing impactful documentaries that highlight the unique ecological and social systems of our world. These films address critical topics such as human-wildlife conflict, climate change, and sustainable practices.
By bringing these films to rural communities, we aim to reshape perceptions and encourage proactive involvement in environmental and social stewardship.
A Story at a Time
We are launching an additional project that integrates community outreach programs with our film screenings. While showcasing impactful eco-cinema, we aim to support the institutions we visit by implementing sustainable projects that foster positive, sustainable, and quantifiable change within these communities.
Through this initiative, we seek to engage the audiences not only in environmental awareness but also in actionable solutions that enhance their institutional capacities and promote long-term sustainability.
After meticulous planning, we ran Phase One between August and December 2024. During this period, we conducted a three-month pilot programme in Western and Nyanza, with an additional tour date in Nairobi. While Nairobi offered great potential, we chose to focus our tours on rural Kenya, where we can make a more significant impact on local communities that have limited access to the programme's benefits.
We plan to run three phases each year, aligning our calendar with the Kenyan primary and secondary school curriculum. Our initiative will include both novel tours and return visits for our pilot participants as we cater to the outreach programme.
