As we undertake our Kāhui Ako Bicultural Hui, We would also like to acknowledge Tā Tipene O'Regan for his recent achievement - being awarded New Zealander of the Year for 2022. Tā Tipene has worked tirelessly towards achieving his dream of an equitable and bicultural nation. He has been instrumental in Treaty settlement and negotiations, his mahi with Ngai Tahu/Kai Tahu and the education world just to name a few. He is a ground breaking leader, outstanding orator, exceptional teacher to many and an historian.
