Artists: Audreanne Bouchard
About the Artist: I accidentally started painting over a year ago, when I took a painting class for school. I fell in love with that medium because it feels concrete and intuitive. Painting, as any form of art, requires a lot of concentration and time, but time just seems to go by really fast when I am painting. I have always been interested in visual arts, but I used to think I needed technique to do it. I realized over the last year that the will to showcase my creativity is all I need to create. Visual arts should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their program. because it can be very therapeutic. I painted every morning from 6 to around 8, and it was very helpful to have this routine every morning before going to my classes. Painting is a very grounding practice, and it is a form of meditation for me.
Project Description: This is a painting I made of my best friend, Maika, and her cat. I have known her for 19 years and she has always been by my side, so I wanted to dedicate my final project to her. The canvas is 24 by 40, and I used acrylic to paint. She is represented with one of her cats, because I know how much they mean to her. I used a lot of material to make this artwork, such as pasta, old dried paint from my paint palette and broken mirror to make the background. This project is an ode to her because she has truly been an angel in my life and I want her to see how beautiful and precious she is.
