About the Artist: My name Arielle Simon Hamel and I am in Cinema and communication program in Dawson. This project means a lot to me. I love to explore subjects and themes that I am familiar with and that are not that well represented in media. Anxiety and depression are subject that I have experience and that I know a lot of people around me have too. This piece was an experience for me that I learned a lot from.
Project Description: This story is about living with anxiety and depression. This story was written to show a side of mental illness in a society where people tend to not worry about enough. We see the effect of anxiety and depression and how much it can have an impact on one person. People that have not really know anxiety and depression can understand what it feels like and learn a side of it. I named the piece Lacuna because the definition of the word is; " An unfilled space or interval; A gap" I found that this word was fitting because will experiencing depression and anxiety it feels like a part of you is missing and that there is so many parts of life that you are missing it feels like a hole in your life.
