Where do you start when you have a broad question like growing chickens on Mars, a cold frame and a research center?

That is the questions Keleigh Maracin, about 56 6th graders and I (Sarah Moore) started our year with. I had an idea of what I wanted to do with the question How to Grow Chickens on Mars?, Keleigh was willing to learn and teach it and the students were excited to learn about their backyard chickens, so off we went!

I do not think any of us really believed when we started where our project would take us or the people we would meet along the way. However, we might not have made it to Mars yet, but we are pretty sure you might see one of our chicken coops there one day!
