Mode Interpretative of Learning: Reading and Writing in the Target Language
In this activity, students interpret the images and written information to answer questions. Then, in groups, they compare and contrast their answers before sharing them with the rest of the class.
Using Arts for Teaching Languages
These activities incorporate the arts to release stress/lower the affective filter, practice speaking target language, and get them ready to learn again.
This activity was designed for an online class. It is a "virtual gallery" where students can observe different painting and use adjectives to describe them, practicing the target language in break out rooms.
After observing several paintings, students can match different labels with each one of the paintings to describe them in Spanish and English. Then, in break out rooms, they compare their answers before sharing them with the rest of the class. In this activity, students use their oral and writing skills in Spanish
Using Music and Visual Information to Learn Culture in the Target Language
Using Cultural Artifacts, Technology and Creativity to Learn the Target Language
Students interpret the actions and dialogues in the video. Later they narrate again the story on the video trying to order the sequence of actions using different photos that appear in the Google Form on the left (Redes Sociales).
After teacher perform a dialogue in front of the students (TPRS-story telling), they fill in the blanks with the correct word, contrast with the partner their answers and then perform the dialogue. With this activity, students practice oral, reading, and writing skills. The presentation of the dialogue is an opportunity for student to interact and produce in the target language.
In this activity, students read a text, answer some questions in groups and finally create a poster that reflect the main content of the reading. Students use their creativity in the learning process.
