What do we do?
House of Neighborly Service provides all programs and services at no cost to residents of Monroe County—made possible by the generosity of our local community.
We offer help for today, hope for tomorrow, and a hand up for life. Whether you are seeking support with housing resources, mental health connections, or food security, HNS is here to meet you where you are and respond in a way that respects your individual situation.
Our services include emergency assistance, an after-hours food pantry, summer lunch support, and holiday outreach programs—just some of the ways we support our community throughout the year. Every service is funded locally through donations, fundraising, and community partnerships.
Because HNS does not rely on state or federal funding, we have the flexibility to respond quickly and thoughtfully—doing what is needed in the moment for those we serve.
Services are available to Monroe County residents, with assistance based on individual circumstances and program availability.
If you’re unsure where to start, we’re here to help. Please call us at 618-939-8900 or stop by 217 W Mill St., Waterloo.
Neighbors helping neighbors is at the heart of everything we do.
