Neighbors Helping Neighbors!
What do we do?
We provide an emergency food pantry thanks to our generous donors! This is for the times our neighbors are between scheduled pantry visits!
You can donate a food basket to those in need or sign up if you are need of one! These amazing baskets are generously donated by local churches, business, groups and families and include everything need for your meal and a few extras!
Share the joy of the season through our Adopt-A-Family for Christmas program! You can adopt a local family and provide holiday gifts that bring comfort and cheer — or, if your family could use some extra help this year, you can sign up to be a recipient.
House of Neighborly Service is proud to provide a FREE weekly “Family Lunch Bag” to support local families. Each bag contains multiple items to help provide lunch for your children during the summer months when school meals aren’t available.
This program is made possible thanks to our generous donors and the Monroe County community. By pro
The HNS Summer Lunch Program will return summer 2026—a vital resource and a true demonstration of our community coming together.
We work with local landlords, agencies and businesses to find solutions to financial assistance requests! These funds are provided through local donors, fundraising and grants!
Help sustain the work of House of Neighborly Service. Donate your gently used items to The Back Porch, or stop by our resale boutique at 215 West Mill Street, Waterloo, IL to shop, browse, and give back to your community. Beyond our core programs, House of Neighborly Service extends care in many meaningful ways—thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers. We provide birthday bags to help local children celebrate their special day, pass-through funds to assist families facing catastrophic medical needs, and offer job and financial coaching to help individuals build stability and independence.
Through these efforts and more, HNS continues to meet the diverse needs of Monroe County neighbors with compassion, dignity, and community support.
These are some of the programs and support
projects we offer our neighbors!
