House of Neighborly Service began in 2014 when a small group of local residents came together to better coordinate resources and support for neighbors in need. What started as a networking effort grew as pastors, school social workers, law enforcement, and business leaders joined, united by a shared mission: to provide a hand up to those in need while leveraging local resources to strengthen our community.

Early on, we answered a remote helpline sponsored by the City of Waterloo, connecting residents with the help they needed. In 2015, we became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and established our Board of Directors. With the support of local donors and volunteers, we opened an office, hired an Executive Director, and expanded into the full-service organization we are today.

Our work is made possible by the generosity of Monroe County businesses, churches, schools, agencies, civic groups, and residents who contribute their time, resources, and expertise. Together, we ensure that every effort directly benefits the people of Monroe County.

In 2025, we proudly celebrate our ten-year anniversary and look forward to continuing our mission of uplifting and supporting neighbors throughout Monroe County for years to come.

THANK YOU TO THE MANY DONORS, VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORTERS WHO HAVE MADE HOUSE OF NEIGHBORLY SERVICE - MONROE COUNTY, ILLINOIS THE ORGANIZATION IT IS TODAY!
