My path to success was paved with determination. Landing in the US in 2001 as a Latina immigrant, I knew the reality of limited resources. English wasn't just a language; it was an imposing wall separating me from opportunity and connections. I realized this situation was a challenge, but I was ready to climb a mountain. So, I took a deep breath and dived headfirst into language learning and culture exploration. Juggling work, family, and countless library nights, I didn't just conquer English; I thrived academically, earning degrees in Psychology and HRD. But the most crucial discovery wasn't on a transcript – it was within myself. I discovered I was an authentic leader who loved to serve my community.
Leadership, for me, is more than power plays. It's the art of guiding, inspiring, and pushing each other towards a shared dream, where everyone wins. Authentic leaders are real, embracing their strengths, vulnerabilities, and emotions. They radiate positivity, building honest relationships and open communication. They paint a bright future and ignite the spark in others to chase it. They're the administrators, the managers, the office support, the advisors, the instructors, the volunteers, and the students who are ready to make a difference.
Authentic leaders create ripples of positive change. And throughout my career, I've been doing just that. From designing complex evaluation projects to translating data into clear-as-day insights for everyone, I thrive in the dance of research and collaboration. Whether it's leading a team or bridging communication gaps, I believe in the power of working together to achieve more than the sum of our parts.
My journey started with an immigrant's courage and blossomed into a leader's dedication. Now, I stand ready to share my grit, my heart, and my skills, and together, we can write a pretty awesome story.

Leaders who do not act dialogically, but insist on imposing their decisions, do not organize the people--they manipulate them. They do not liberate, nor are they liberated: they oppress.
