My longstanding experience, spanning over 15 years, as a mentor and cheerleader for students and professionals from diverse backgrounds, inspires my teaching methods. I have learned that each course requires different instructional strategies. More importantly, I have learned that teaching from a personal perspective and in a real-world, relatable way has a more significant and memorable impact on students' learning. I have taught several online and in-person courses, utilizing traditional methods such as lectures, discussions, and in-class activities, in combination with innovative approaches.
In most of my courses, I incorporate the reading of peer-reviewed journals early on through a cutting-edge jigsaw activity (see my paper, "Teaching Controversial and Contemporary Topics in Economics Using a Jigsaw Literature Review Activity," Journal of Economic Education).
