Mick Veitch, NSW Shadow Minister for Lands, for Primary Industries, and for Western NSW, along with Bryce Wilson, Labor candidate for the seat of Monaro, came to the Bungendore railway station Friday 13 July to provide support for the Molonglo Rail Trail. Mr Veitch announced that $50,000 would be allocated to fund the detailed development plan of the rail trail if Labor forms government at the March 2019 election. He also stated that a Labor government would establish an efficient process for considering rail trail proposals and facilitating those proposals chosen to go ahead.
Molonglo Rail Trail members in attendance welcomed this support which will add to the almost completed feasibility study to make the rail trail proposal ready for serious consideration by the state.
