Bungendore is a thriving country town with cafes, galleries, independent shops and a range of accommodation
Hoskinstown is a small vibrant community and has interesting historical features to explore, including remnants of the old railway station, an historic church and community hall. It has potential to develop as a half way stop for the trail
Captains Flat has extensive infrastructure left from its mining boom and great opporunities with a historic rail precinct. The RSL Club and Men's Shed are open on the weekend for coffee and meals. The Captains Flat Hotel is open with cycle-friendly accommodation. It once boasted the longest bar in Australia. Free camping is available at the local park, along with a pool, oval and tennis courts.
All three communities are excited about the rail trail as a community asset that will provide safe recreational activities for all, especially young families. They also see the rail trail as the best possibility to stimulate economic growth, create new business and provide employment opportunities.
