MOLONGLO RAIL TRAIL AT BUNGENDORE HARVEST FESTIVAL
The committee had a very successful presence at the Bungendore Harvest Festival on Saturday 15
April. Good weather and large crowds. There was a constant flow of people stopping by our booth.
There was a huge show of support for the proposed trail, with many expressing frustration that
resolution of the lead contamination will slow progress. A number joined the long list of “Friends of
Molonglo Rail Trail.
Our key messages:
Council supports our proposed trail, pending resolution of the lead contamination issue.
Steve Whan, new member of the NSW Parliament for Monaro, supports our trail proposal.
Transport for NSW is currently determining the extent of contamination and consulting with the community to develop remediation plans. Remediation will soon commence for the first section at Captains Flat.
The Molonglo Rail Trail Committee will work with Council, Transport for NSW and Regional NSW to ensure the community gets a suitable trail from Bungendore to Captains Flat.
