Every company or business in South Africa is required to file their companies annual returns with the CIPC once a year within 30 days of the companies birthday. The reason for being required to file annual returns is to confirm whether a company is still in business or if it will be in business in the near future. It is like renewing your company for another year.

All companies must file an annual return within 30 business days from the first day of registering the company regardless of the company being active or not. You will still be able to file the companies annual returns after the 30 days has passed however you will be charged an extra fee for submitting your companies annual returns passed the due date
