9D Music and HD Video Player
Effective Date: May 8, 2026 | Last Updated: May 8, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to 9D Music and HD Video Player ("App", "we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience when using our App. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide and improve the App's functionality. The App does not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or payment details unless you voluntarily provide it.
2.1 Media Files (Local Device Storage)
The App requests access to the media files stored on your device solely to provide its core playback functionality:
Audio files (music, podcasts, etc.) stored on your device
Video files stored on your device
We do not upload, transmit, or share your media files with any third party. All media access and processing occurs entirely on your device.
2.2 Usage & Diagnostic Data
We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage data to improve App performance. This may include:
App crashes and error reports
General performance metrics
Feature usage statistics (anonymized)
This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
2.3 Notification Preferences
The App may request permission to send you notifications (e.g., playback status, media controls in the notification shade). Notification data is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
3. Permissions We Request and Why
Below is a detailed explanation of every Android permission the App requests and the specific purpose for each:
Storage Access: READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
Used to read audio and video files from your device storage for playback. WRITE permission is used solely to allow you to manage playlist files and save playback preferences locally. Required on Android 9 and below.
Audio Media Access: READ_MEDIA_AUDIO
Grants access to audio files on Android 13+. This replaces the older READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission for audio content. Used exclusively for browsing and playing your music library.
Video Media Access: READ_MEDIA_VIDEO
Grants access to video files on Android 13+. This replaces READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE for video content. Used exclusively for browsing and playing your video library.
Internet Access: INTERNET
Used for fetching album art, song metadata, or online streaming features (if applicable). It may also be used by integrated analytics or ad SDKs. We do not transmit your personal data or media files over the internet.
Notifications: POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Required on Android 13+ to display media playback notifications (play, pause, skip controls) in your notification shade. No marketing or promotional notifications are sent without your explicit consent.
Background Service: FOREGROUND_SERVICE
Allows the App to run a foreground service so that media playback continues when the App is in the background or when your screen is off.
Media Playback Service: FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK
Declares the foreground service type as media playback, in compliance with Android 14+ requirements. This is required for uninterrupted audio and video playback and integration with the Android Media Session API (via Media3/ExoPlayer).
4. Background Media Playback Service
The App uses a MusicService component (implementing androidx.media3.session.MediaSessionService) to provide continuous, uninterrupted media playback. This service:
Runs in the foreground with a persistent notification when media is playing
Integrates with Android's media session system for hardware button and Bluetooth controls
Does NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal data
Terminates automatically when playback is stopped, and the App is closed
The service is declared as exported to allow external apps (such as Bluetooth headsets and Android Auto) to interact with the media session in a standard, secure manner.
5. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, trade, rent, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. We may share anonymous, aggregated data in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers: With trusted third-party vendors who assist in operating the App (e.g., crash reporting services such as Firebase Crashlytics). These vendors are contractually bound to keep information confidential.
Legal Requirements: If required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case users will be notified.
6. Data Retention
We retain anonymous usage and diagnostic data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy or as required by law. Media files remain on your device and are never uploaded to our servers.
You can delete all locally stored App data (preferences, playlists, cache) by clearing the App data from your device's Settings at any time.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to remove such information and terminate the child's account, if applicable.
8. Data Security
We take the security of your information seriously. All data processing occurs locally on your device. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect any data we do collect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
9. Third-Party Services and SDKs
The App may integrate third-party services or SDKs (such as analytics or advertising networks). These services may collect information subject to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services we use. Current third-party integrations may include:
Google Play Services for App distribution and licensing verification
Firebase / Google Analytics for anonymous usage analytics (if enabled)
Google AdMob for displaying advertisements (if the free version is ad-supported)
You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's Google account settings (Settings > Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalization).
