Survivor Assistance Team Training Program

A major service that volunteers within the MOAA Cape Canaveral Chapter community provide is assistance to family members when a Chapter member or a member's spouse dies. The training program is a mix of self-paced instructions (provided in this web site) and one-on-one instructions from Survivor Assistance Team (SAT) members to new volunteers. This committee has available:

• A check list of needed documents in the event of the death of a member, member's spouse or Aux member.

• Telephone numbers and points of contact of all agencies to contact in such an event.

• A member of this committee will work with and assist a surviving spouse or surviving family member in filling out needed forms and assuring the forms get to the proper agency, such as SSA. DFAS, OPM, VA, etc.

• A Chaplain serves on this committee and is available as needed.

• This committee maintains a record of the deaths of all members, spouses and Aux members. A report is provided for the Weekly Thursday Breakfast meeting, the monthly newsletter, The Intercom and the yearly report of the Florida Council of Chapters.
