Yochanan 16:7 ... I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will convince the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and you will not see me; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
It is not normally stated that the concealment of Yehoshua HaMashiach from Israel in the heavens is the essence of the Good News. In this statement recorded in Yochanan 16 it is taught by Yehoshua himself that it is, in truth, the essence of the Good News, because through this concealment Israel will come to be fully convinced of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. These are the requirements for full and complete repentance. That repentance should come to Humanity, beginning at Jerusalem and continuing unto the ends of the earth is the purpose of the Good News.
Yehoshua prayed that God's will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. In a kind of mirror reflection, his body was buried on earth before he was raised from the dead and his resurrected body was, so to speak, buried in heaven. Just as a seed, he said, must be buried in the ground in order to sprout and bring forth much fruit, so he would be buried in the ground and much fruit would come from him. In the same way, it is because he would go away to be concealed with his Father in heaven, to be buried there instead of here, as it were, that the fruit of the Spirit would come from him.
One must understand this principle of the burial of the seed. It is given as an analogy of new creation. Humanity has known Mashiach according to one creation. Now he must be concealed in order that he might draw all Humanity to him, to know him according to a new creation.
Yehoshua Explains: The Spirit who comes, comes like a new sprout of life beneath the soil. In that Spirit it becomes possible to have a new conviction of sin, and of righteousness and of judgment, one that sees these matters as God sees them. This ultimate conviction of sin comes through the revelation that wherever there is unbelief in Yehoshua as God's Anointed King and Saviour of Israel it is due to sin. And this ultimate conviction of righteousness comes from the revelation that the righteousness to which repentance must attain is not of this world but is one that can come only from the right hand of God. And this conviction of judgment is one that comes from the revelation that the judgment of God upon sin and that measures repentance can only justify Humanity if the Mashiach of Israel is seated at the right hand of God.
