Part One
Truth and reconciliation is the foundation of the stars and galaxies. It is the power of time and space, the spacetime continuum, and all of its energy. How is this so?
Kabbalists say that when God first thought to create the world He thought to do so on the basis of strict justice. It would have to stand on the basis of its own perfect worthiness of His perfection. When God saw that the world could not stand on this basis but instead was shattered by the weight of the glory of His light, He re-created the world on the basis of mercy. And we have through the revelation of the Torah Light of the Anointed Redeemer of Israel, Yehoshua, the understanding that the merciful foundation of the eternal world would be that God would dwell with us, in our midst, in redeemed Israel. And that by Him every hair of our head would be counted.
In Canada, the title, "Truth and Reconciliation", applies to the process of rectification of historical wrongs having been done in relationship with the indigenous peoples. It is not different principles but the very same principles that are involved in God’s story of Truth and Reconciliation in His relationship with His creation. Sometimes we find ourselves on the end of being the victim of injustice. Being able to articulate the truth of that experience is essential for us to ever find reconciliation and the possibility of rectifying the wrong. God also, because He desires not to condemn the world, must be able to tell His story about being betrayed by us, by the world that He created. He must be able to talk about the truth in a way that changes it from condemning us to a way that makes reconciliation with us possible. Only then can it be possible for us, with God, to rectify what has been done wrong. For this reason Paul writes, "We implore you on Messiah’s behalf: Be reconciled to God!"
And when God’s Truth and Reconciliation commission has finished its work, what will God do? On the basis of that work He will make a new heaven and a new earth wherein dwells only righteousness. This is what God will do. What will we do? We are the ones who have been unfaithful to the one who made us with how we have lived our lives. If rather than condemning us He desires, on the basis of telling the truth, to be reconciled with us, will we continue to hide from the truth? Will we continue to try to spin the truth to make it seem to lessen our guilt? Or will we seek to fully embrace the truth, trusting Him that in doing so the truth will set us free? Of this we can be certain, the measure of reconciliation cannot be greater than the measure of truth. What does it mean that God will dwell in us and in our midst? It cannot mean anything without truth and reconciliation.
For the sake of free will, in order that we might be free to choose to be faithful to him, God made the very physics of the stars and planets to be subject to time, to have a beginning and an end. For if failure were not possible neither would trust and faithfulness be possible. But for the sake of our repentance, for the sake of our willingness to listen to God telling His truth, and for the sake of our being reconciled with Him, God has prepared a completely new physics for the stars and planets and galaxies, a new space-eternity continuum, wherein there is no corruption, no loss of energy, no death and no tears.
