Context: With more cities dedicated to creating a cleaner world and offering a weekly recycling collection, the need for customer education has increased. To make the most of these services and to ensure they are effective, it’s important for customers to use the recycling bin with proper awareness.
Challenges: Recycling services can be ineffective if customers do not know what items they should and should not put in the blue recycling bin. The lack of education on proper recycling is a contributing factor for ineffective recycling systems. It is important for recycling companies to provide guidelines on items customers should place in their recycling bin to ensure a reduction on the numbers of non-recyclable items placed inside the blue bins.
Solutions: To reduce the number of non-recyclable items being placed inside the recycling bins, a practical solution was implemented – providing customers with a quick infographic with a list of items they should and should not put in their recycling bin. This infographic aimed to reduce the number of non-recyclable items being placed inside the recycling bins.
Results: By customers being aware of the items they should and should not place in their blue recycling bin, there should be a significant decrease in the number of non-recyclable items placed inside the blue bins.
