Welcome to our newly funded peer mentoring group Applied Machine Learning for Social & Environmental Problems (ML4SEP) at UZH. For the first of this year’s activities, we have organized a kickoff event to bring everyone together and hear more about ML and begin networking with one another.
13:30 - 14:00 S3IT presentation - Pim Witlox
- S3IT supports UZH researchers and research groups in using IT to empower their research, from consultancy to application support and access to cutting-edge cloud, cluster and supercomputing systems. Pim Witlox is eResearch team leader within S3IT, the eResearch group has a people with various specialisations, including but not limited to Machine Learning, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Data Management. Within this talk, a short introduction will be given on the services S3IT can offer on the available infrastructure and what we can help you with.
14:00 - 16:00 Lightning Talks by ML4SEP group members
- Lightning Talks: group members are invited to give a short presentation about their research interests as well as the aspects of ML they would like to explore while participating in ML4SEP. The time allotted will depend on the number of members who participate and will be determined once RSVPs are received. Details regarding the lightning talks will be updated once we have a count of participants, though we anticipate individual talks will not be more than 10 minutes in duration.
16:00 - 17:00 Networking apéro, including advisory board
- Networking apéro: group members along with the advisory board are invited to network and further discuss their interests and ongoing projects.
