Aim and Objectives

Welcome to our newly funded peer mentoring group Applied Machine Learning for Social & Environmental Problems (ML4SEP) at University of Zurich. The main goals of ML4SEP are

1. to acquire knowledge and skills related to applied Machine Learning for social and environmental problems
2. contribute to the theory and practice of ML in Social and Environmental Sciences, and
3. build a local and international network of researchers to share knowledge and skills across interdisciplinary research groups.

Since 2019, we have been organizing a series of group activities including workshops, tutorials, writing retreats across various topics including: applied ML on health, social networks, languages, mobility, and environmental phenomena, deep learning, crowdAI, bias and fairness in ML, and interpretability of ML.
