"One of the most important things I learned during the course of the project, was that nothing is more important than learning about your surroundings. If I had not been pushed to go explore Milwaukee as an assignment, I do not think I would have any understanding of the deep cultural and historical value Milwaukee has as a city. I learned so much about this city and about myself through this project, and I am incredibly excited to see where these servant-leadership projects take us next quarter. Because of everything I learned from the community events I attended, the community sponsor research my group did, and my archival research, I know it is my job to expose these unknown, untold stories of the Wisconsin underground railroad to Milwaukee. I am determined for these small stories to make a big impact."
