memorial
The end goal for this project is to create a physical memorial at the site of the plaque. The purpose of this memorial is to cultivate change from within the community and rediscover Milwaukee's connection with its past.

In addition to the physical memorial, we would like to use this website to gather information about Milwaukee's involvement in the underground railroad that compliments the physical memorial. We would like for the physical memorial to include information about the website, and for people to be able to use the website in conjunction with the memorial. One idea of how the two can be combined is the use of QR codes. We would like there to be QR codes present in the memorial that take the users to an interactive website that can be used as additional information about the history and the memorial.
cOMMUNITY iNVOLVEMENT
Since this project is for the community, we are currently discussing ways for community members to become involved in this project. If you are interested, feel free to contact us for more information. Artists and community members alike are invited to participate in the creation of this piece.
If you have a personal or historical connection to the underground railroad, consider contacting us for an informal interview. This includes untold stories of the underground railroad or historical artifacts from the time period (such as photographs, journals, etc.). We'd love to hear from you!
