Note from ILMEA - Please remind your students to prepare and practice their parts BEFORE the festival. All students need to bring a folding music stand and pencil to every rehearsal and performance, in addition to rock stops, mutes (if needed), bass stools, for their particular instrument.

Bus Schedule - Thursday, the bus will leave from the JH at 8:30 am and return to the JH around 5pm that day. On Friday, the bus will leave at 7:45 before school and return around 1:30pm during the school day. Families are responsible for transporting them to the concert Friday night. Arrive at the Civic Center around 4:30-4:40 so they can tune and warm up before the 5pm rehearsal.

Dress for concert!

Black dress, skirt or pants with white top

Dress/skirt length should be at or below the knee

Tops should have sleeves that cover the shoulders and should reach the waistline of the pants/skirt"

Schedule for ILMEA Concert on Nov 1st

6:00am - Load the bus at the High School Parking lot on Illinois ave with your instrument, music, folding stand, nice black and/or white clothes to change into and bagged lunch. It leaves shortly after 6, with or without all the students.

7:45am - Arrive at Browne Hall at Western Illinois University and prepare for rehearsal - 621 N Western Ave, Macomb, IL 61455

8:15am – 11:15am - Morning Rehearsal

11:15am – 12:30pm - Lunch - Bring your OWN lunch (there is a chick fil A across the street, but during that lunch hour, the line can get up to a hundred students)

12:30pm – 1:15pm - Afternoon Rehearsal

This is a great opportunity for students to experience playing in a large ensemble with the best young musicians from all around central Illinois. If they do well enough at district auditions, then they may go on to play in the All State Orchestra which is a massive deal. District Participation Only: Students will need to play one 2-8ve scale (G Major or C Major), and play the lyrical etude (you are welcome to turn in only half of the excerpt if it is too difficult)
All-State Qualification: Students will need to play both 2-8ve Scales (G and C Major) and play both the lyrical and technical etude.

All State performance will be in late January at the Illinois Music Educator's Conference at the Peoria Civic CenterNote from the judge: I would also say, that if you have students who can play some or most of the excerpt, but maybe can't get through the third positions parts, then just encourage them to play the first half or a portion of the etude.
