To be eligible for state, the student must attend the District rehearsals and concert
This is a great opportunity for students to experience playing in a large ensemble with the best young musicians from all around central Illinois. If they do well enough at district auditions, then they may go on to play in the All State Orchestra which is a massive deal. More information is here. - https://ilmea.org/DATESMonday, September 15th - Deadline to tell Mr. Akers if you are officially going to turn in an auditionMonday, September 29th - Deadline to send video links to Mr. Akers for him to turn inSaturday, November 1 - Concert Festival (Western Illinois University, Macomb) - We will have a bus for students to get there and back, Families are welcome to join for the concert and take students home from there if you let the teacher know.2 options for audition- District Participation Only: Students will need to play one 2-8ve scale (G Major or C Major), and play the lyrical etude (you are welcome to turn in only half of the excerpt if it is too difficult)
- All-State Qualification: Students will need to play both 2-8ve Scales (G and C Major) and play both the lyrical and technical etude.
All State performance will be in late January at the Illinois Music Educator's Conference at the Peoria Civic CenterNote from the judge: I would also say, that if you have students who can play some or most of the excerpt, but maybe can't get through the third positions parts, then just encourage them to play the first half or a portion of the etude. This is the first year that we will be requiring auditions for the junior level string students, so we are trying to make it as easy a process as possible!Practice videos to listen to even more than you practice - Violin Lyrical - Violin Technical - Viola Lyrical - Viola Technical - Cello Lyrical - Cello Technical - Bass Lyrical - Bass Technical Rubric you will be judged on - LINK link to music - HERE also on schoology orchestra page - Link to scales are HERE also on schoology orchestra pageRoster of who made it into the All District Orchestra
