“As a queer person growing up in rural Oklahoma, the sex education I received in public school was far from inclusive. My experiences aren’t unique; these sentiments have been echoed by participants and community advisory board members in my previous research. A lack of adequate sex education intersects with other factors to produce significant inequity in terms of sexual and reproductive health outcomes for LGBTQ+ women and those assigned female at birth (AFAB). This project is about better understanding gaps in sex education and their impacts on health for LGBTQ+ women, trans*, and intersex folks, and perhaps more importantly, to develop online resources which can help fill these gaps."

"I'm interested in better understanding the gaps in our delivery of healthcare and the flaws in the dissemination of healthcare-related information. This study addresses the tools we use to disseminate health-related information, seeking to understand how LGBTQ+ women, trans* individuals assigned female at birth, and intersex persons use social media to obtain information about sexual health. Social media is a powerful tool, one which has the potential to fill gaps in existing sexual education and promote equity in the dissemination of health information."
