International Relations A (132600)

The international relations that you usually hear about in the news or newspapers may often revolve around issues or events led by 'a government' of a certain country. However, it's not only governments that drive international relations. Moreover, in times of great change, there are increasing problems that cannot be addressed by a single country alone. This course aims to help you view international relations from the perspectives of 'states,' 'corporations,' 'NGOs,' and 'people living their daily lives,' fostering an understanding of international issues from various angles and considering them as one's own problems.

Social Science A (132000)

This course aimes to make students consider various human activities in relation to society. Specifically, we focus on the discussions of gender (femininity/masculinity) and sexuality (related to the body and sex, such as gender identity and sexual orientation), which have developed in the field of sociology. We examine the diverse expressions of our sexuality from a social perspective.

Comtemporary Politics in Japan A (132400) 

When we think of politics, we may envision "parliament" or "elections," but that's not all there is to the definition of politics. Politics can also be understood as "the conflicts and interests (power relations) among various groups in society." Based on this broad definition, this course aims to help students understand concepts and terms related to political science. While focusing not only on domestic but also international society, we will engage in training to examine our society from a political perspective.

Contemporary Society and Peace (132800) *Omnibus style

Peace studies introduced in this course aim not only to create a world without war but also to identify 'violence' within social structures that hinder people's self-realization opportunities, and to aspire towards the transformation of societies imbued with violence. Therefore, this course introduces a wide range of issues such as nuclear arms races, the causes of war, inequality, economic injustice, and social injustice (poverty and discrimination).

Seminar 'Gender and Sexuality' for junior students (P51049)

This seminar aimes to help students explore issues surrounding gender and sexuality, ultimately completing them as a thesis. Specifically, in the seminar, we will:

In each seminar session, the presenter will discuss the content of the literature and their own thesis.

You are free to choose any topic related to gender and sexuality for your thesis. However, when applying for this seminar, I have two requests. One is to have an attitude of considering issues as "personal matters". The second is to have a basic knowledge of gender and sexuality.

Reflecting on the World of the 21st Century (131700) *Omnibus style

The theme of this course for the academic year 2021 is "Reflecting on the World of the 21st Century through Covid-19." Using Covid-19 as a keyword, lectures on Covid-19 will be conducted from the perspectives of history, philosophy, gender studies, literature, ICT, and design media in order to help student understand the world with multiple perspective.

This course similar to 'International Relations A,' aims to enhance the development of students’ skill in comprehensively understanding international relations from the perspectives of 'states,' 'corporations,' 'NGOs,' and 'individuals living their daily lives,' fostering the ability to consider various international issues as one's own problems.

This course aimes to help students examine various human activities in relation to society, focusing on discussions within the field of sociology, which have evolved around gender (femininity/masculinity) and sexuality (pertaining to aspects of the body and sexuality such as gender identity and sexual orientation). This course can provide students with skills in analyzing the diverse expressions of our sexuality from a social perspective.

Through concepts, terminology, and understanding related to political science, this course aims to help students consider concretely how we can create a society where we can live more comfortably.

This course aimes to help students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge needed to consider various human activities from the perspective of their relationship with society. It deals with the basic concepts discussions within the field of sociology that have developed around gender (femininity/masculinity) and sexuality (pertaining to aspects of 'body and sexuality' such as gender identity and sexual orientation), examining the diverse expressions of our sexuality from a social standpoint.

Seminar 'Gender and Sexuality' for senior students (P51149)

Based on previous learning and experiences, students set a research theme, formulate their own questions, conduct research while considering previous studies, and utilize research methods such as investigation, observation, experimentation, and interviews. They progress with the research under the guidance of their supervising faculty, analyze and discuss the results, and create a capstone research paper.
